The Japanese automaker Toyota failed to recapture the sales lead from General Motors in 2023 as the delivery crown remained with the most prominent Detroit automaker.
But the company, with over 2.24 million units against GM's nearly 2.6 million and Ford's almost 2 million, still holds a firm grip on second place. It will also strive to raise the benchmarks even further because a raft of cool models is already slated to reach nationwide dealerships during 2024. Those include the 2024 GR86 Trueno Edition, the 2024 N400 Tacoma i-Force Max with 326 hybrid ponies, the 2024 Land Cruiser SUV returning to America with the same hybrid powertrain, and also the 2025 Camry mid-size sedan or the first-ever 2025 Crown Signia premium crossover SUV.

If you think that's a handful, this is probably just the beginning, as all of them were officially announced in 2023. For sure, there will be another tidal wave of novelties for 2024, too. Everyone has an opinion about what's coming next from Toyota, of course. Some believe the company will attack Ford Maverick's supremacy in the reborn compact pickup truck sector with a potential Stout revival; others only have eyes for the next-generation 4Runner, for example, or the refreshed best-selling RAV4.

Interestingly, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators also has a few ideas of its own – and some are quirkier than others. For example, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of CGI-revealing a feisty Sequoia full-size three-row truck-based SUV. More precisely, the pixel master has been hard at work giving the Gazoo Racing treatment to all the most improbable Toyota models over the past few weeks.

As such, we have seen the all-new, unofficial 2025 Toyota 4Runner adopt the GR styling before even getting its official reveal or the first-ever, hypothetical 2025 Toyota GR Sienna delivering a virtual minivan slap in the face of all those crossover SUVs out there. However, now it's time for something even more radical – after recently thinking that a GR Tundra could sell well as a street-wise alternative to the Ford F-150 Raptor, now the CGI expert has also imagined a GR Sequoia sibling.

Made on the same TNGA-F body-on-frame modular platform as many other rugged Toyota models, the XK80 Sequoia got its first full year of sales in 2023, and the results were pretty impressive, indeed. As such, it wouldn't be illogical to assume that the Japanese automaker wants to carry over the momentum into 2024 with a new version alongside the current Sequoia SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. However, we don't expect Gazoo Racing to intervene and give it the complete GR treatment anytime soon to place it at the top of the offering alongside the GR86, GR Corolla, and GR Supra.
