Unlike the rest of the American pony car pack, the Ford Mustang – in S650 seventh generation form – is still with us. Alone but not afraid, it's the undisputed leader of the segment, according to the sales tally from 2023.
Last year, both the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger were still around. In fact, they should have been hyped beyond belief and turned into veritable collectibles because everyone and their mother knew that it was the final year of production for the sixth-generation Camaro and the Hemi-powered Dodge Challenger and Charger sedan.

In fact, no one knows what will happen with the Challenger nameplate going forward as the company is actively testing and teasing the return of the Charger to a two-door fastback format for its next generation – and the Charger Daytona model will go fully electric. In the future, the rumor mill fully expects the regular Charger to pack the 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six turbo engine series with standard and high-output versions to go against the EcoBoost and Coyote V8 Mustang.

But how about Chevrolet? Are they really going to leave us only with the $68k C8 Corvette Stingray and the Z06 plus E-Ray, both of whom are way past the $100k threshold? The GM subsidiary also ceased production of the sixth-generation Camaro in December 2023, just like Dodge ceased manufacturing of the Charger and Challenger. However, even though they promised this was not the end of the road for the iconic Camaro nameplate, they also have yet to announce any plans for an immediate successor.

Of course, the rumor mill thinks that when it eventually comes back, the seventh iteration of the legendary Camaro will fully embrace the EV lifestyle and possibly a change of body style or two. On the other hand, while the imaginative realm of digital car content creators generally agrees with this potential outcome, some folks are also fearless in trying and dreaming of the next Camaro a bit differently.

For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm, and he recently envisioned the classic tale of the next-gen Camaro – looking sleek and featuring an Ultium-based EV powertrain. His main 2025 Camaro EV illustration is entirely logical – especially in the context of the first-ever Dodge Charger Daytona EV.

But he also created an alternative design – one that takes the next Camaro back to the future with retro styling inspired by the 1980s era. Keep in mind that even though it's a classic-oriented take on the hypothetical new Camaro, this design project is still attached to an EV powertrain, most likely GM's BEV3 platform with Ultium hardware and Ultify software. As such, it could easily borrow the Blazer SS EV setup and rock around the block some 557 electric ponies…
