BMW has been heavily testing the next-generation M5 for a while, both the sedan and the hotly anticipated station wagon (G90 and G99), and we have seen lots of spied prototypes along the way.
That's only natural, considering that the Bavarians debuted the eighth-generation BMW 5 Series with much fanfare back in May 2023. The G60 sedan is intentionally not as controversial as the latest 7 Series and i7 or the XM Label Red in terms of styling, and the G61 station wagon will undoubtedly follow suit. However, much of the criticism remained, including because the company decided to axe the V8 option and only gave us an all-electric alternative.

Sure, the i5 M60 is no slouch, given its peak power of 593 ponies, but it's also no M5, right? Speaking of the latter, the high-performance sedan is next in line, possibly at the same time or a little later after the Bavarians show the 5 Series Touring. More importantly, the new M5 brings a couple of premieres – the return of the M5 Touring for the first time since the 2005-2010 E60/61 series and the switch to a PHEV powertrain. Luckily, it's no four-banger like in Mercedes-AMG's E-Performance case, and instead, BMW will keep the twin-turbo V8 mill and hook it to electric assistance.

According to the rumor mill, the new M5 will land somewhere between the 644-hp XM and 738-hp XM Label Red plug-in hybrids – or it could possibly jump right past both of them in M5 Competition form with something around the 800-hp mark. Anyway, it's going to be a high-performance sight to behold. Speaking of sights, how about the looks department?

Well, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is always eager to give hints about the possible looks of upcoming models, and most recently, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube, who have a satellite venue dubbed AutoYa Interior, and that's where all the (CGI) M5 action occurs, have also joined the fray.

The resident pixel master is pretty busy in this video feature – while the host discusses about the potential powertrain and xDrive traction system, we get to see the unofficial design project of the 2025 BMW M5 from behind with the doors open to also catch a glimpse of the interior. There's also an unofficial color reel to go along with it – both for the body as well as the cockpit.

The camera then promptly switches to the classic front-three-quarters view, and we get more ritzy hue options to choose from. After that, it's time for the full cockpit point of view, and the choice is just as trendy here, too. Last but not least, there's also a quick comparison between the new BMW i5 M60 and the hypothetical M5, just to top everything up. So, do you like it or not?
