It’s a big day for the brand new Chevy Malibu, one of the hotly anticipated cars from the bowtied brand that’s supposed to make us forget about the endless years of horror the old car came with. The first example of the Malibu Eco, which packs GM’s eAssists micro-hybrid tech, was delivered.
As the story goes, Jeneise and Talfred Hunt, a husband and wife from Illinois, took their 2009 Malibu Hybrid to Advantage Chevrolet in Bolingbrook for an oil change this week and instead became the first customers to purchase the all-new model.

The Eco comes with start-stop technology with regenerative braking and a lightweight lithium-ion battery to provide an electric boost in certain conditions. This is supposed to improve economy by 12% over an equivalent gasoline engine.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
