Fire at Dacia's Mioveni Plant

Renault’s Dacia brand, which has been a constant presence in the headlines thanks to the launch of new low-cost models that offer a good price-quality ratio, has had a hot weekend, but not in a good way. Yesterday afternoon, a fire broke out at the automaker’s Mioveni plant in Romania, with the site’s fire department reacting promptly to keep the situation under control, as realitatea.net reports.

The unfortunate event took place at the production site’s paint shop yesterday, with thick smoke coming out of the shop. As we’ve said, the company’s fire fighters took action. The team also received support from the local county’s fire trucks.

The fire did not expand and no casualties resulted from the incident. The situation didn’t create any significant material damage either.

It looks like there were flames at first, but subsequently the only thing coming out was smoke. The situation is under control and there are no casualties,” Madalina Epure, a spokeswoman for the local authorities was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.

As the incident did not affect the paint shop’s working capacity, therefore allowing production to be resumed according to schedule today.

No material damage was recorded, with the production being restarted under normal conditions on Monday. An investigation will certainly be carried out in order to determine the exact causes that led to the fire,” Roxana Evanghelie, a member of Dacia’s press relations office, told realitatea.net.
