Fiat’s UK arm has announced the appointment of a new fleet and remarketing director, in the person of Simon Wheeler. The executive, who will report directly to managing director Andrew Humberstone, will supervise the development of fleet and corporate sales.
He will also continue to keep his current responsibility of used Fiat Group vehicle remarketing and disposal manager, covering the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat Professional dealer networks.
Wheeler started his motor industry career in the early 1970s, joining the Dutton Forshaw dealer group. Over the years, he has held multiple positions at important companies, such has the Rover Group and the Trader Media Group.
“I am really looking forward to this new role within a company I have not only enjoyed working for but grown to respect. Fiat Group is now a serious force within the UK motor industry and our recent success in the retail channel now deserves to be repeated in the major fleet sectors,” Simon said.
“We have managed to improve dramatically the desirability and resulting residual values of our products over recent months by maintaining our resolve to only transact commercially sound business with our growing customer base,” the executive explained. “Add to that the introduction of some stunning new models such as Fiat Punto Evo, 500 TwinAir, and the highly acclaimed Alfa Romeo Giulietta, and we have a very strong offering for the fleet market.”
Fiat is currently working on an complex expansion plan, as the company is entering the U.S. market and tightening its bond with the recently-acquired Chrysler.
