Fiat Toro Pickup Suddenly Becomes Mundane When Rendered as an SUV

The Fiat Toro pickup is clearly relying on its looks in an attempt to win over as many clients as possible. After all, it’s the first Fiat pickup, so it’s not like the brand has any legacy to fall back on.
That front end with Evoque-like headlights and multi-layered fascia is pretty uncommon for such utilitarian vehicles like the pickups, so it’s clearly to blame for the warm welcome the Fiat Toro has had in the press - ourselves included.

Its alleged ties with the Jeep Renegade compact SUV also promise a decent ride and a nice set of interior features, as Fiat is making no attempt of hiding the lifestyle side of its new model. Therefore, an SUV conversion is more than likely from Fiat, who should see no reason not to capitalize on the huge demand of such models and its partnership with Jeep.

And independent digital artist who likes to call himself (fair warning for all grammar nazis out there: do not read his name, it could make your aorta burst) The Really Jhonny agrees, and he has come up with a pretty convincing rendering of such a potential model.

Unfortunately, all the magic the Toro brought as a pickup truck is now gone, with the Fiat Toro SUV looking like a slightly more modern Peugeot 4007 or something. It’s not bad, it’s just not that great either. It’s certainly not something Fiat can expect to sell by the bucket-loads unless it prices it really low.

On the other hand, if it were to become reality, the Toro SUV would replace the Freemont and almost any possible car you can imagine is an improvement over that fiasco.

This potential Fiat Toro SUV (or Freemont, name still pending) would have to compete in markets outside the South American one as well, markets where the competition in this segment is nothing short of fierce. Oh, well, let’s not get carried away just yet, it’s only a rendering. By a guy called The Really Jhonny, no less. Oh, crap, sorry grammar nazis, I forgot to warn you this time.
