Fiat has gone back-to-basics with the model lineup in Europe. While the extended Fiat range is going after the premium customers, models like the recently launched Tipo target everybody else.
The standard Tipo, also known as the Egea in some markets, will replace the Linea. Built in Turkey, it pinches the pennies in all the right places while offering more room and better fuel economy.

In 2016, two more body styles will be introduced, most likely a hatchback and estate. Following Dacia's engineering philosophy, Fiat stands a good chance of revitalizing its European sales.

While the Tipo-derived hatch will succeed the Bravo, it will likely not use the "Bravo" name. Too many negative emotions are linked to this Fiat subcompact model for the company to continue selling it.

The engineering will also be different, as fewer and less powerful engines will be used. The chances of an Abarth performance model (Punto Abarth successor) being introduced are extremely low. Instead, small diesels will flesh out the range.

In Turkey, the new Egea sedan comes with two diesels and a petrol unit. The diesels are a 1.3 Multijet II with 95 PS and a more powerful 1.6 Multijet II with 120 PS. The solo petrol engine is a 1.4 Fire 16V with 95 PS. Sounds familiar?

In terms of dimensions, we expect this new hatchback model to straddle the B- and C-segment, just like the Skoda Rapid or the Peugeot 301. For the record, the compact sedan is 4.5 m (14.7 feet) long, 1.78 m (5.8 feet) wide and 1.48 m (4.8 feet) high, with a 2.64 m (8.66 feet) wheelbase. Luggage capacity is a respectable 510 liters.

To make the hatchback, Fiat will cut the boot capacity to around 400 liters while making the vehicle easier to park. Styling changes will be minimal. This RM.design rendering should give you a decent idea of what to expect. However, we'll have to wait until the 2016 Geneva Motor Show to find out.
