Fiat had stopped selling cars in South Korea, but since their merger with Chrysler, the network of dealerships and showrooms was taken out of order. This is an understandable decision, since the Korean car market is not a growing one, surviving mainly on its exports alone (to the US and Europe).
However, this downward trend hasn’t stopped Fiat from trying start selling its cars there again. The cars will be sold through the existing Chrysler network of dealerships and will only feature two Fiat products, the 500 and Freemont, both of which are built in Mexico.
The funky little 500 seems to catch, regardless of what market it is introduced on - even US buyers are loving it! Perhaps sales in Korea will help Fiat pull through the difficult period they are currently going through, in order for other manufacturers under their wing, like Alfa Romeo to have financial backing to produce and sell their rather unique offerings.
