Fiat Ducaton Confirmed as Base for New Ram-Badged Van

As Ford is replacing its line of Ecoline commercial vehicles, with the much more modern Euro-spec Transit van, Chrysler has decided to follow the example. They will be using the current European Fiat Ducato as a base for their new van, which is set to be launched in the third quarter of next year.

It will be included in the new Ram line of professional vans, and it will be called the ‘Promaster’, a name they trademarked back in September. Now, while it may share its underpinnings with the Ducato, officials have announced that it will get brand-specific styling and will use “familiar Ram Truck styling cues”.

Fred Diaz, President and CEO of the Ram Truck brand said: "The Ram ProMaster further strengthens our commercial lineup, offering a full line of work trucks and vans [. . .] As the Ram Truck Brand continues to gain share and grow sales in the retail truck market, we will be just as aggressive in our goal to be a commercial truck market leader."
