Fiat Group is in the middle of something big: it has to revitalize the European offering, while also integrating models from its Chrysler division. That being said, most of its current revenue comes from Europe, so they desperately need a way to grab a slice of the growing Asian market.
According to Automotive News, Fiat CEO Sergio Machionne belives Suzuki to be a fitting partner for its ambitions there.

“With Suzuki we have had an industrial cooperation for a long time,”
Marchionne said. When asked about Suzuki’s problems with Volkswagen he said they “have nothing to do with us. We talk to everybody. But we are not talking now with Suzuki about a platform. There is an exchange of information."
