The sub-compact Chevrolet Spark is indeed making the trip across the pond to make its presence felt in the US market. However, like the Fiat 500, it will receive cosmetic changes to make it better appeal to its new customers.
GM Inside News says that the car that is sold Europe and Asia will receive a different fascia for the US market. However, the arrival has been pushed back a little. What was originally slated as an early-2012 debut will now be a mid-2012 one, with the extra time to be use to get the Spark to meet safety standards as well.
The grille will be longer, but what’s behind it that’s really important. The Spark will come as standard with a 1.2-liter four-cylinder with about 80 horsepower, mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox. Both can be expected to get over 40 mpg highway, which is a good selling point.
