Since the smaller Fiat 500 had already achieved a five-star safety rating, we were expecting good things from its larger sibling, the 500L. Now, that it has been tested by Euro NCAP, our expectations were confirmed by a maximum five-star safety rating, as well as excellent results in other tested areas.
It achieved an impressive 94% rating for adult occupants, while it only managed a 78% rating for child occupants. Pedestrian safety was good, as well, as the 500L achieved a rating of 65%. Also, with standard Electronic Stability Control and seatbelt reminders, Fiat’s small MPV recorded a good result in the ‘Safety Assist’ category, as well, managing to score 71%.
Overall, the Fiat 500L made a very good impression, with its strong point being the excellent protection offered to its adult occupants, which would safely walk away from crashes even more severe than those simulated by the Belgian testers at Euro NCAP.
