FIA Insists Red Bull Front Wing Not Flexible

Red Bull disclosed quite a seldom before seen superiority in Australia last weekend, leading many to believe that this year's campaign will be a walk in the park for the reigning world champions in their attempt to defend their 2010 crown.

Like last year however, claims of potential illegalities used by Red Bull started surfacing in the media, and it took Red Bull's rivals only a single race to point some fingers. Their suspicions were however fueled by footage showing Red Bull mechanics constantly repairing the endplates of the cars' front wings in qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton was the first to be outspoken about it, saying that he suspects Red Bull are again using flexible front wings meant to boost downforce levels at high speed. And after the quick reaction of Red Bull's motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, who obviously denied the claims, the FIA's race director Charlie Whiting made it very clear that there is nothing illegal with Red Bull's RB7.

We have found nothing unusual. The car is in order,” said Whiting, according to a report from Germany's Bild newspaper.

In the meantime, Red Bull's rivals have already showed their admiration for the car designed by Adrian Newey, especially since it is rumored that Sebastian Vettel has sandbagged his way to the Aussie GP win.

The last time we saw a car so superior was a long time ago,” admitted Mercedes motorsport director Norbert Haug in a recent interview with Germany's Sport Bild. “Even without our problems, we would only have admired Red Bull from afar.
