Italian carmaker Ferrari might skip the Tokyo Motor Show this year, especially because sales in the Japanese auto sector are going too well for the company. In this context, injecting money into a display at the show would not make too much sense, so the brand might cancel its appearance in December.
A report by Kyodo News informs that Ferrari's decision could affect the overall success of the show, and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, the organizer of the show, are now worried that the overall number of visitors could drop significantly. And their worries are pretty explainable given the fact that General Motors will also stay home in December.
On the other hand, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Renault will show up at the Japanese venue to reveal their last goodies to be thrown in the battle against local manufacturers.
The 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, which will take place between Friday, December 2 – Sunday, December 11, 2011, will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight in an effort to mark the reborn of the venue, as the organizers said in a press release.
"New features of the show currently under consideration include the showcasing of proposals for the ideal future society surrounding cars as well as proposals for new automobile lifestyles and culture. Specifically, there will be a Carrozzeria exhibit as well as participants from the fields of advanced ICT (information and communication technology), urban systems and environment/energy for a low-carbon society that is led globally by Japan," they've said when the location change was officially unveiled.
