Ferrari Heads to Roll after Title Failure in Abu Dhabi

After a disastrous campaign back in 2009, Ferrari felt once again the taste of winning this year, when their driver Fernando Alonso crossed the finish line ahead of everyone no less than 5 times. Of course, it eventually did not lead to any title – neither constructors, nor drivers – but most of the people of Ferrari considered the 2010 season a visible step forward.

Apparently however, just like at the end of any defeat in professional sports, failure leads to heads rolling, and the Scuderia is unlikely to make an exception. While the job of team manager Stefano Domenicali doesn't seem in danger for the time being, not the same thing could be told about Ferrari's chief track engineer Chris Dyer.

Some things will change and, sure, some heads will roll,” said the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, hinting that Ferrari's engineer is the man everyone is pointing fingers at within the organization – not outspokenly, though – for he was the one to cover Mark Webber's Abu Dhabi race strategy.

For those of you who saw the race – or read the reports afterwards – Webber's race strategy proved vital for Alonso in the end, as it was the main reason why the Spaniard was brought to the pits early in the race. That eventually got him into traffic throughout the entire race, behind Renault's Vitaly Petrov to be more precise, which eventually kept him away from a world title.

Needless to say, from an official standpoint, nobody at Maranello has announced any intention of sacking a person or two, with Domenicali inviting everyone to stay calm and focus on the job next year.

The only thing we can do is try to take a breath, recharge the batteries and push people to do a better job next year,” said the Italian boss.
