Most major European carmaker have chosen the show floor of this year’s Geneva event to unveil their new automobile offering. However, Ferrari wanted to create something that would better fit the exclusivity that comes with one of its models. That’s why the FF was officially unveiled yesterday in Maranello, during an event that was presented by Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and CEO Amedeo Felisa. The first thing Ferrari officials wanted to emphasize is the fact that the shooting-brake is not a 2+2 with room in the back for small children or luggage. Both the front and rear seats can accommodate really tall passengers, 1.95 and 1.85 meter respectively, to be precise. As is the case with the 458 Italia, a huge amount of effort was invested into making the cabin ergonomic and control layout, with main features set on the steering wheel. Also revealed for the first time was a new infotainment system with dual 5-inch screen on the instrument panel, center dash touch screen (that also incorporates voice commands) and an optional third screen positioned in front of the passenger, displaying speed, rpm and what gear the car is in. Imbedded in the headrests of the front seats are two screens for the rear occupants. It has also been revealed that the brake system is not designed for use on the track. The FF Ferrari, which will be on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, will debut six exclusive colors, including the new Maranello Red and gray Abu Dhabi. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
