Ferrari's Felipe Massa is set to becoming a father later this year. The Brazilian driver officially confirmed for the first time this season, prior to this weekend's German Grand Prix. According to the 2008 Formula One runner-up, his wife Rafaela Bassi is due to give birth to his first child in November this year.
“Everything is going well and it is a nice feeling knowing I am soon going to be a papa,” said Massa on Wednesday, while admitting the birth of his child will have a perfect timing, soon after this year's season finale at Abu Dhabi, scheduled on November 1st.
The first reports showing that Rafaela will give birth to a baby boy in November this year have surfaced the media ever since early May. However, no official confirmation of the news was ever issued by the 28-year old driver.
Massa will therefore join a select “father's club” in Formula One, including Brawn GP's Rubens Barrichello, Toyota's Jarno Trulli, Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella and BMW's Nick Heidfeld.
Back to Formula One business, Massa insisted that tires' behavior will count a lot in scoring a decent result at the Nurburgring this weekend, as cold weather will most likely make it difficult for the drivers to get them up to temperature during both qualifying and race.
Bridgestone announced its tire allocation for the German weekend, choosing medium and super soft compounds for the Nurburgring track.
