Last year's automotive sales in America were copiously dominated by the classic trio of Big Detroit Three pickup trucks – Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram trucks.
The Blue Oval counted almost 751k units of F-Series, making it the most popular nameplate in America, followed by the Chevy Silverado series with 543k deliveries and Ram's P/U models with close to 445k. Counting the GMC Sierra, which ranked seventh, plus the Toyota RAV4 (4th), Tesla Model Y (5th), Honda CR-V (6th), Nissan Rogue (9th), and the Jeep Grand Cherokee (10th), all of the first ten places bar one (Camry, 8th) were occupied by high-riders.

As such, are we really surprised that some of them are going above and beyond the call of duty? For example, we have seen CUVs turned into mobile homes and pickup trucks roaring at the local quarter-mile dragstrip. In fact, some of them are so good they don't fear taking on proper sports cars to prove the point. But there is no need to take our word for granted, as we have a proper example.

The videographer behind the Drag Racing and Car Stuff channel on YouTube loves Bradenton Motorsports Park, and he also likes quick pickup trucks, it seems. As such, the latest feature embedded below focuses on an aggressive Chevrolet Silverado single cab that's all about wreaking havoc at the racetrack and not caring if it looks funny on small 'steelies.'

In fact, people's attention got away from the shoes pretty soon as the first skirmish occurred during daylight against a household name: Chevrolet's Corvette. Unfortunately, this wasn't a modern representative as the crimson 'Vette was identified as a C6 from the mid to late 2000s. So, no matter how hard it tried, the fast Chevy truck immediately annihilated the Chevy sports car – hence the 11.97s versus 12.64s result.

Plus, as it turns out, the Silverado could do even better. Later at night, a contemporary Toyota GR Supra tried to show the American pickup truck who was an import boss. The second race surely kept us on the edge of our seats because the black Silverado and blue GR Supra were level for most of the skirmish – and in the end, it was up to the track's light to determine the winner!

Usually, pickup trucks are a rare occurrence at the local quarter-mile dragstrip, but that doesn't mean they can't put up a good show. For example, this videographer has caught a few great races in recent months, and we decided to show another couple of videos just for good measure – or in case a couple of truck wins were not nearly enough to satisfy your high-riding cravings. Enjoy – and don't worry if they sometimes lose, they always put on a good show!
