Federica Pellegrini Meets Maserati Gran Turismo S Automatic

The fastest female swimmer in the world, Federica Pellegrini, took some time off from training to go and meet the new Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic. The meeting took place in Verona, the place where Federica trains by swimming daily at least 20 kilometers in the pool. Since it was an Italian swimmer meeting an Italian luxury sports car, Federica wore a scarf in the colors of the Italian flag.

The model she drove was a white Maserati GrandTurismo S Automatic powered by a 4,700cc V8 engine with 440 horsepower, which reaches a maximum speed of 295km/h.

“I’ve always liked sports cars: They’ve always fascinated me even when I was a child,”
Federica said. “It’s a passion that I haven’t inherited from anyone in my family. Probably the truth is that I’m particularly attracted by anything that has to do with speed.”

According to the Italian automaker, the S Automatic is the only coupe in its category to have four comfortable seats. The model completes Maserati’s coupe range, along with the GranTurismo 4.2 with automatic gearbox and the GranTurismo S 4.7 with electro-actuated gearbox.

“The GranTurismo is the car of my dreams. I believe a car should reflect the personality of the person driving it. I can see myself in this car, in its elegance, refinement and obviously in its sporting flair,” said Federica in an interview she gave when she set the world record for the first time.

Federica is currently the women’s 200m freestyle (Long Course and Short Course) world record holder. She is also the first female Olympic Champion in the history of Italian swimming and the only Italian swimmer to have set world records in more than one event.
