The idea of catching burglars red-handed leaving your house might be a frightening scenario, but rather than waiting for the police, a plastic surgeon and his 22-year-old daughter from Houston, TX attempted to follow the suspected burglars in their Audi A8. While the daughter drove, the father caught the ensuing car chase (and multiple collisions) on his cellphone camera.
According to a report from CNN, Kevin Smith and his daughter Alana were just getting back from the airport when they witnessed the red Ford F-150 pulling out of their driveway. Not being able to contact their family member who was thought to have been in the home during burglary, the two decided to go after the suspects rather than sit back and wait for the police to arrive.

Eventually, the burglars spotted the Audi, so the driver of the Ford F-150 attempted to scare off the would-be tail by ramming into the car… twice. This didn’t stop the woman from continuing to follow the truck before heading down a dead-end street. After turning around, the driver of the F-150 plays a dangerous game of chicken with the Audi, and the scary ordeal ends when the two vehicles collide sending them both into a nearby ditch.

You’d think that Smith and his daughter would be shaken, but in an interview, Alana said she wasn’t scared while her father was proud of how her daughter reacted to the situation. While their Audi A8 suffered heavy damage, neither were injured in the accident, although Alana was treated and released at the hospital for whiplash.

Not only did the Smiths get their property back (including a television and laptop computers), but the police ended up catching two of the three suspected burglars. Head over to the CNN report to watch the video for yourself.
