A burglar was caught after he stole some goods and a car from a couple’s house in Ormskirk, Lancashire UK, thanks to an iPhone app.
The thief broke into the house, stole a laptop, an iPhone and the keys of an Audi A6 and left quickly. The couple heard the burglar when he drove off in their car and called the police. They asked the owners if they had the Find My iPhone app installed on their stolen mobile phone. As they had it, next thing they did was to log on a computer and trace the signal of the device.
The police launched a helicopter to follow the signal and the managed to pin-point the exact location of the thief, redirecting patrol cars towards him. He ditched the car and tried to escape on foot but was shortly caught, arrested and jailed for about four years.
