German aftermarket suspension specialist KW has recently targeted the Mercedes C63 AMG, releasing developments for the coupe, sedan and wagon models.
KW offers a DDC ECU coilover package, which allows the driver to choose between three settings: “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport+”. In addition to this, the user can set up individual characteristics for the front and rear axle using a dedicated app for the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
The OEM struts are replaced by KW ones during installation and one can choose to lower the C63 AMG by between 5 and 30 mm up front. As for the rear axle, the sedan and station wagon can be brought closer to the road by 30 mm, while the Coupe can be lowered by between 5 and 25 mm. The suspension is offered with TUV approval.
“When we have developed the adaptive KW DDC ECU coilovers, the "Comfort" mode was in focus and it convinced with a comfort-oriented setup. In addition, the KW DDC control module reads the vehicle data while driving the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and its automatically adjusts the damping characteristics to the driving speed. In mode “Sport”, the damper work agile, while in “Sport+", the sporty damping characteristic are in focus and it enables the AMG driver a pure driving experience,” a company release states.
The WiFi communication between the driver’s device and the KW DCC control unit can be established using an optional W-Lan module. Should a technical issue appear, the coilovers will automatically enter a mechanical fail-safe mode, with a proportional valve adjusting to a middle neutral position.
