1979 was a fantastic year for Pontiac, as sales of the Firebird lineup went through the roof. The Trans Am was the model spearheading sales, though every Firebird version released this year recorded a solid performance.
The Trans Am surpassed 100K sold units for the first time, stopping at 117,108 cars shipped to customers in 1979. It was the best year in its history, marking the end of a fantastic growth that started in 1972 when Pontiac produced only 1,200 units.

The 403 Trans Am dominated the 1979 model year with over 48,000 units, followed by the T-Top version fitted with the same engine and accounting for over 30,000 units.

A 1979 Trans Am recently made its way to eBay, trying to find a new home after spending 43 years with the same family. Seller pauldingautosales explains that the only family that owned it purchased the car in 1979 from a Pontiac dealership and meticulously cared for it until last year.

The vehicle is rust-free, so you won't have to deal with the typical metal damage invading the undersides and the trunk. I've rarely seen such a good-looking Trans Am, and based on the provided photos, it doesn't look like the vehicle requires more work than basic TLC.

The Trans Am rolled off the assembly lines with several options, including power windows and locks, a Deluxe cloth interior, power steering, and power brakes. The 403 V8 in charge of putting the wheels in motion is still under the hood, and despite the garage in charge of finding a new owner not revealing more specifics, it probably starts and runs correctly. The odometer indicates approximately 76,000 miles, and they are all original.

The listing doesn't include essential information about how original the Trans Am remains. Still, it's safe to assume the family that owned it all these years didn't make substantial changes. The paint is likely the original, but the best way to determine if this Trans Am is worth buying is to see it in person.

A Trans Am in good shape but still selling as a project is typically worth $10,000, but this example goes beyond this condition with nearly mint everything. The vehicle is ready for the road, so the $30,000 price tag makes sense. However, the seller has also enabled the Make Offer button, so if you want the car but have another deal in mind, contact the garage to discuss the details.

If you want to see this Trans Am live, you must go to Dallas, Georgia, where it's waiting for the end of the eBay fight. The listing will expire in approximately two days, so you're running out of time to purchase the family-owned Trans Am.
