After whetting our appetites with an excellent promo video, in which David Coulthard drives last year’s Red Bull F1 car through the streets of New York and New Jersey, we now have an official date for the Grand Prix of America - June 16th.
It is part of next year’s F1 calendar, which is set to feature 20 races, in 19 countries across the world. It is the first ever F1 Grand Prix to be held in New York, and a big departure from the rather disappointing former location, at the Indianapolis Speedway.

Leo Hindery Jr., race promoter and executive director said “The support we have had from elected officials like New Jersey Governor Christie and the mayors of Weehawken and West New York, a committed property developer and a great management team has been incredible [. . .] They have stuck by us through this process and we owe them our thanks. The Grand Prix of America will be a special and historic race for New Jersey and New York, for the drivers and, most importantly, for the dedicated fans of Formula One racing.
