Epyon Introduces the Terra Combo Charge Post

Epyon, a European provider of intelligent charging solutions for electric vehicles, is introducing the Terra Combo Charge Post, a fast charging unit that supports both AC and DC connections.

This is the first post that can charge vehicles with different standards at the same time, thus being cost-effective for utility providers, parking lots, local municipalities and petrol stations. The unit is being displayed at Nissan’s Paris Auto Show booth.

"We believe in choice and want to offer a solution for both AC- and DC- powered electric vehicles," said Hans Streng, CEO of Epyon. "We don't want our customers to choose which standard to support. With the Terra Combo Charge Post, users will be able to charge most types of electric vehicles in 15 to 30 minutes. We are very proud of the trust Nissan is showing us by having the Terra Combo Charge Post on their booth at the Paris Motor Show."

The Terra Combo Charge Post comes with a user-friendly interface and will support a DC CHAdeMO-compliant connection up to 50kW. The AC connection meets the available European standards: Mennekes, SCAME or J1772.

The combination of AC and DC will allow the post to be able to serve all electric vehicles on sale starting December this year. Customers can chose to pay via RFiD or other POS systems.

This combination of AC and DC will allow compatibility with all electric vehicles entering the market starting December 2010. Payment methods can be implemented according to customers' preferences via RFiD or other POS systems. The space-saving design will allow easy placement at commercial areas and forecourts," stated the press release.
