The Jeep Renegade wasn't exactly the resounding success the American brand hoped it would be - and the one we thought it deserved to be as we thoroughly enjoyed the little SUV - but that doesn't mean there's anything particularly wrong with it.
The design won't be anyone's taste, but that goes for almost any car out there (or any thing). If anything, it was a valid entry on the small SUV market for FCA's off-road specialist and a more than worthy successor to the Patriot.

With that in mind, it would make sense for Jeep not to change too much for its upcoming facelift, but this video spotted just the other day somewhere in Europe shows the designers were borderline lazy. Of course, it all comes down to whether this is really a facelifted Renegade or just some guy who likes to "embellish" his car with black tape, but since we've never heard of such a person, we'll go with the former.

If you think about it, there isn't much Jeep can do to alter the Renegade's look. The outline of the headlights and the grille will remain the same, so the only parts left open to change are the bumpers, which just happen to be wrapped in black fabric. Well, the front one at least.

The mid-cycle refresh is scheduled for 2018 and it could very well focus on the kind of stuff we won't be able to spot in a video shot from afar. Things like the infotainment system might get an upgrade (a larger display, for example, wouldn't hurt) as well as minor engine tweaks - even though the Renegade is pretty well covered in that area.

One possibility that will get the juices flowing for a lot of people is the rumored Trackhawk version, with a Jeep official recently refusing to deny the possibility of a go-fast version ever happening. However, we wouldn't hold our breaths over it - seeing it come with the facelift is not something we would bet our savings on at this time.
