It's been a while since the SLS AMG replaced the now venerable SLR McLaren supercar, but it seems that Edo Performance wasn't quite done with the later, as the tuner has just released a new take on the performance machine called the Black Arrow.
Edo Karabegovic and his team have created a vehicle that is halfway between a racer and a street cruiser, in our eyes at least. The mods started with the body, which received a stealthy looking flat black coating and as much red as you could possibly want. The car also sits on big, black, bold 21-inch alloy wheels, with a red ring, that are shod in high-performance sport tires. There's even a new set of exhaust tailpipes and a sprinkling of carbon fiber.
The team then set to work on the interior, which sports a refined combo of black leather and Alcantara with custom-made carbon fiber pieces for the dashboard, center console and door panels. We can also spot a new custom infotainment system with navigation, phone, TV and iPod connectivity and well as a parking camera.
We're done with the cosmetic changes now, so its time to get to the all-important performance improvements. Edo Competition's geniuses played around with the V8 engine, remapping the ECU and adding a number of special parts like a revised intake system, new exhaust headers, high flow catalytic converters and air filters. The result: 722 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 890 Nm (656 lb-ft) of torque.
According to the tuner, the SLR McLaren Black Arrow can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and offers a top speed of 345 km/h (214 mph)... electronically limited.
