...or how you could do a better job than Ferrari themselves. Some would say that trying to bulk up a Ferrari, in a way in which will make sense, is an almost impossible task. That's not what the guys over at edo competition think.
edo calls the enhancements they offer for the California "accessories". We think that's a bit of an understatement, given that the ECU recalibration has "talked" the engine into developing 500 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. But what do we know...
edo also fit the California with a performance exhaust system featuring adjustable butterfly valves and custom designed high flow catalytic converters. The combination of the exhaust system and the remapped engine makes the car reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.9 seconds and top at a speed we frankly doubt most of you have ever reached: 315 km/h (196 mph).
As for the "accessories", edo offers tire sets in 20 and 21 inches, available in several designs. As an option, a sport suspension system allows for California's ground clearance to be lowered.
As for the interior, edo provides several options, which include leather upholstery, but customers may ask for just about every customization they can think of.
"The Ferrari 599, 612 and 430 have had offspring. The open two-seater, dubbed the California Spider, with its retractable aluminum hard top is the new entry level model among the sports car offerings from Maranello," says edo.
Did they do a good job? Judge for yourselves, by comparing the California with the Ferrari F430 kit from ASI, which we presented you yesterday.
