In any other circumstance, this could be a good example of craftsmanship and ingenuity and would be worthy of sincere praise. In reality, though, it could be evidence for the police of evidence tampering.
A video shot earlier this month in Houston, Texas, is still making the rounds after the person on whose surveillance camera it was recorded decided to share it online. That person did so because they found the driver’s behavior off and suspect a hit and run with a stolen vehicle.
If you think about it, there’s no other way to account for this dude’s eagerness to fix the hood of his car, which is crumpled up. He pulls into an empty driveway and gets out of the car, and then immediately jumps on the hood, where he proceeds to put the hood back again by hopping on it.
If he thought to himself “that’ll buff right out,” he was obviously wrong: you can still see the damage. On the bright side, it doesn’t attract attention as much as it would have done before.
Then, the man and his female passenger (who, by the way, is wearing the fanciest pair of fuzzy slippers evah!) get back in the car and drive off. For the entire duration of the video, there is a sense of urgency in the way these two talk, even though you can’t make out exactly what they’re saying. But you could easily assume they’ve hit something and are in a rush to get out of there asap, based on their exchange and behavior.
As a matter of fact, most commenters agree that this is probably a case of hit and run, most likely with a stolen vehicle. So the dude is caught on tape tampering with evidence.
“We live in a heavily populated area, about 10 minutes from downtown Houston,” the caption of the video reads, as posted by Viral Hog. “We watched it live on the app and shared it on the neighborhood page immediately because it was clear the car had hit something of some sort.”
