Ducati has tried from the beginning to separate its Scrambler model from the rest of the range. Hell, it even has it’s own web page, and this only tells the story of more models to come under the same nomenclature. So here’s a new trailer to prove so.
A new teaser video from Ducati has surfaced the Internet these days and it looks like the Italian bike maker is preparing to uncover a new ‘DS’ Scrambler.
The ‘DS’ has firstly appeared on some CARB fillings from last month and everyone believed it stands for Dual Sport. Apparently that’s wrong, because this new clip is titled “Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled”.
The desert-themed clip shows very little of the bike. There are a few frames that show it from a distance both from the front and the back, but you can’t really tell how exactly does it look.
Two other frames show some raised handlebars, which confirms it’s off-road off-roading DNA, but other than that, there’s no info over what the Desert Sled will be. We can only guess it’s a beefed-up version of the re-born Scrambler Ducati introduced a couple years ago.
Something with a higher suspension, a 1,000cc engine, bash plate, bigger tank and knobby tires. You know, a better recipe for exploring longer dirt roads. Not that the current Scrambler can’t do it, but it’s rather a small machine taller riders can’t fully enjoy.
Oh, there’s another thing in the video I forgot to mention. The description says this new machine will be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. That’s next month, so we won’t have much to wait until we see Ducati’s new retro off-roader.
Anyway, keep them browsers pointed here. I have a hunch there will be more such teasers to come. Or maybe a full leak before the official launch.
