Let's face it; if we're going to drop tens of thousands of dollars on a mobile home, camper, or travel trailer, why not go all out and really get into the on-road lifestyle? One team sitting at the top of the mobile living ladder is DRV Luxury Suites, the one and the same responsible for the luxurious and downright juicy habitat we have before us today.
Folks, DRV Suites has been around since 2003, and since the very beginning, this crew has aimed to bring a different level of luxury to the travel trailer scene. In this spirit, we'll be exploring their 2024 Orlando "mobile suite," a massive habitat that can accommodate owners year-round and, while doing so, places everything you could ever want or need in any home.

There's just one big juicy catch to this bugger, its price. Suppose you happened to check out the images in the gallery. In that case, you may have noticed that the Orlando does indeed present itself in a manner not often seen in a fifth wheel, filled with luxury features and defined with an interior design that makes my own landlocked home look cheap. In all, sources are showing an MSRP of around $287K (€262K at current exchange rates) for one of these babies, and that's the most basic unit.

However, at this price, basic means something else entirely. It means six slide-outs, two bedrooms, one of which doubles as an on-road office or flex room, two bathrooms, island kitchen blocks, and even a fireplace, and all of it decked out with the finest materials available to the industry. After all, the manufacturer's name is DRV "Luxury" Suites. The keyword is luxury.

For starters, DRV lays down a solid base upon which they complete the Orlando. I'm talking about a stacked triple-tube frame, residential insulation, sidewalls, nearly an inch of insulation, and an independent suspension for each wheel, not just axles. Did I mention that copper piping runs through the whole thing?

Sure, a whole lot more goes into completing such a masterpiece, but if I were to continue talking about the construction of this thing and everything that goes into it, I'd be writing up a five-page paper just on that topic alone. Instead, let me paint a different picture for you, one that places you at the center of a life lived in an Orlando.

First off, I want you to picture you and your family gearing up for an extended weekend during Thanksgiving. You've got the gear loaded up in the countless bays tattered all over the exterior of the Orlando, and inside, a turkey is waiting in the fridge, along with some cranberries, taters, and everything else you need to whip up that deep-fried beast. Hook up this 24,000-pound (10,886 kg) GVWR machine to your modified truck with a fifth-wheel hitch, and off you go.

Let's say you made reservations on some plot of land in an RV park at the base of the Rockies or out on some beach somewhere. Once you've parked your unit, stretched your legs, and stabilized everything, unhitch your beast of burden and press a button. As you do, kick back and watch your home take on its final shape. Some of the other park residents are sure to come watch, too, maybe even ask a question or two. Why not invite them inside for a tour?

As you enter this mobile haven, you'll find yourself in the middle of Orlando's living room and kitchen. Here, a large space hosts a couch and theater seating accompanied by an entertainment center with a fireplace and the kitchen with an island block. What I liked most about this space is the downright homey feel it brings, not to mention the trim packages to reflect your soul. Did you happen to see the dishwasher integrated into that island block?

From here, the Orlando is completed with two distinct sections. At the very rear, the manufacturer adds a large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and complete features, not to mention another entertainment center at the foot of your bed. Take a moment to picture yourself sleeping, waking up, or simply escaping the world in this space.

Now, at the opposite end, the remainder of the Orlando starts us off with two steps into the gooseneck area of the trailer. First, we'll encounter a service bathroom to our left, and if we continue toward the front cap, yet another room is found.

Here, two single beds are off to each side of the room, and in the center, a desk is found, perfect for those of us who can work from anywhere in the world. This is also a perfect space for the kids, and if you're not planning on working, fill the room with toys for them. Are you looking to keep things neat? Check out the massive wardrobe integrated into the front wall.

Regarding all those little things we can't see, there's no use in mentioning that DRV equips each Orlando with all you need to live worry-free. There's a 40,000 BTU furnace, 100 gals (378 l) of freshwater, solar and washer/dryer preps, and countless others. Be sure to check out the options list, but take the day off to do so; it's a big unit.

As for myself, I see the Orlando as one of those mobile habitats that's always in the background, ready to rest your bones, shelter you from some storm, and give you a place to cook, all the while sprawled out with its countless slide-outs, and even looming over a tent or outdoor dining set with a fire a just few feet away. Whip up that turkey under god's gaze, with green grass and loved ones around.
