We’re taught to expect our parents to have our back no matter what, but in this particular car accident case, the exact opposite happened.
It all went down in the UK, in the quiet village of Airmyn, near Goole, on Saturday night, when the driver of a black Ford Focus lost control of his vehicle and smashed through the front yard of a bungalow, a wall and a hedgerow, the Daily Mail reports.

No word yet on what caused the crash, but what is clear is that the driver thought it best not to face the music afterwards. When emergency reponders arrived at the scene, he was gone – and what’s worse, he actually left his son behind.

“Humberside Police officers […] found the passenger by himself in the black Ford Focus,” the report notes. It does say that the son was an “adult,” but it doesn’t mention what explanation he offered for his father’s disappearance.

Still, it’s a pretty lousy way to behave, especially coming from a parent. Needless to say, leaving the scene of an accident you caused is bad enough, but if you also leave when there’s someone else in the car, your chances of getting a Human of the Year award considerably go down.

“A black Ford Focus lost control and crashed through a garden wall before ending up smashing its way into a huge hedge,” an eyewitness reveals for the publication.

“Police and ambulance crews dashed to the scene. When I got there, the police had just got the car pulled from the hedge and onto the road. The car also took out a fir tree in the front garden, which was jammed into the hedge having been torn out by its roots by the car.”

No one else was injured in the accident, but by the looks of things, damage to the car was considerable. Speed and / or alcohol consumption may have been a factor in the crash.
