The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) announced this week that is has selected Dodge as an official partner for two of the events it is hosting this month, the Million Dollar Challenge and the San Diego Triathlon.
As an official partner, Dodge will be accompanying the cyclists which started the Million Dollar Challenge on October 16 on a 620-mile, 7-day journey from San Francisco to San Diego. The cars which will be seen driving along the riders are two specially wrapped Dodge Grand Caravans.
For the San Diego Triathlon, which is a 1.2-mile swim, 56 mile-bike ride and 13.1-mile run event, Dodge will deploy a Grand Caravan equipped with a mobility package, in cooperation with the Ability Center of San Diego.
“Like the Dodge brand, the challenged athlete refuses to live life in the slow lane,” said Ralph Gilles, Dodge CEO.
“We are proud to partner with the Challenged Athletes Foundation on the 2010 Million Dollar Challenge and the San Diego Triathlon Challenge. We are truly inspired by the vigor and determination demonstrated by these remarkable athletes.”
The Challenged Athletes Foundation, an organization established as a means to financially help people with physical disabilities, has managed through the years to raise $28 million. All the money go to encouraging disabled individuals live their lives in an active manner.
“We share a passion for providing an innovative and quality product, or in our case, service, to people to improve lives,” added Virginia Tinley, CAF’s Executive Director.
“The two custom wrapped Dodge Grand Caravans are now a symbol of hope coming down the California coastline.”
