Yesterday, we told you that Ford was giving the Taurus Police Interceptor a new 305 hp 3.7-liter V6 engine. Now Dodge is announcing its contender has a new engine of its own.
Chrysler Group has officially announced its making the Charger Pursuit vehicle a bit more flexible with a power that mixes the existing HEMI V8 engine with an AWD drivertrain.

"Adding available all-wheel-drive capability to the already popular Dodge Charger Pursuit will broaden the Charger’s appeal to police departments that are accustomed to dealing with rough winters and adverse weather conditions," said Peter Grady, Vice President - Network Development & Fleet, Chrysler Group LLC.
The HEMI V8 pushes out 370 hp and 390 pound-feet of torque for the RWD version, but this might be de-tuned a bit for the AWD. Right now, engineers are testing the architecture, which should be ready for the 2014 model year.

"With the Charger Pursuit now offering dual capability of both rear- and all-wheel-drive, we’ll be able to meet the needs of our police fleet customers across the country," Grady added.
