Whenever I see a Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro getting together, it is like they're part of a bad joke. Sadly, the truth is not far from that – they will both retire their ICE-powered models and go down in history quietly or pass the baton to their EV lifestyle's brethren.
Although part of the Mopar fanbase is pretty sure they will soon duke it out with the Tesla Model S Plaid on equal grounds at the local quarter-mile dragstrip because the production version of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept is around the corner with nine levels of Banshee EV prowess, the Challenger enthusiasts might be inconsolable, instead.

After all, Stellantis said nothing about their beloved nameplate, and the EV prototype depicts a Charger with just two doors – rendering the modern Challenger obsolete. That means just one thing – there's still a bit of time left to snatch a 2023 Challenger from the online configurator because Dodge is preparing to close the order books on its production.

Meanwhile, Chevy Camaro fans know one thing is for sure – 2024MY is the final hurrah for the sixth generation, and after the family-wide Collector's Edition plus the 56-unit Garage 56 ZL1 special series, there will be nothing but silence. That's because GM is letting the nameplate rest, with no successor planned. So, now, whenever I see a Challenger and Camaro together, I feel a little bit sad.

However, there is a time for solace and a time for grievance – but that is not it. Instead, let us see both Dodge and Chevrolet heroes perform on their favorite stage – a quarter-mile dragstrip and a vast audience. The videographer behind the Wheels channel on YouTube is a big fan of MRP (Mission Raceway Park – Thunder by the River) and Bandimere Speedway (aka Thunder Mountain) but sometimes loves to dabble with The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

So, it is only natural to assume that the four-lane venue in Nevada is one of the biggest stages in the United States when it comes to such brawls. There, even the tiny heroes have a chance to shine – and on this occasion, we are dealing with a white-and-black Chevy Camaro SS knight in shiny armor and a military-green, patriotic Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack, by the way. Although they are not as feisty as their fellow SRT Hellcat and ZL1 peers, they compensate with excellent skills.

So, during the slower quarter-mile skirmish, they had enough time to start the duel like a charm (without any wheel slip) and even change the leader mid-race as initially the Challenger had a slightly better start. In the end, there can be only one, and that is the Camaro SS, with 14.78s to 15.14s. The winner then went on to fight against a crimson C8 Corvette from the 1:20 mark and clearly showed why the Stingray is not only vastly more popular but also superior, hence the 11.93s versus 15.02s loss incurred by Chevy's muscle car.

As for the mighty Dodge Challenger, that one, too, had the chance to shine brightly alongside a Mopar peer. Of course, the outcome between a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack and an SRT Hellcat is easy to imagine – 12.39s versus 14.96s loss. But does anyone care about that when they're living on borrowed time and we must cherish every precious moment with them?
