After recently taking a break for the summer recharge, "spend time with family, and get some sun!" the GM design studio is back in the CGI business with a couple of spirited models.
For example, they thoroughly highlighted the Buick 'Proxima' design concept created by GM's Advanced Design Center in Shanghai, China. Obviously, this is not a model destined for production, as we are dealing with a flagship EV sedan equipped with gullwing doors – and it's a bit like Chrysler's Airflow EV in proportions.

But we are not here for a concept car made in China that will never see the light of day. Instead, we gathered around GM Design's social media page because they shared yet another juicy thing from one of their designers - Brian Malczewski. Alas, diehard fans know very well he is not just any other stylist on GM's payroll – he is, instead, the Lead Exterior Designer at General Motors.

As such, unlike many other ideation sketches seen in GM Design's reel, this one maybe has a little more heft behind it. So, as far as the highlights go, there aren't any. The post only said this is an "incredible sketch" from Brian. But we know how to read between the lines. Thus, starting with the bowtie, this is obviously a Chevrolet – albeit with a slightly modified version of the logo, which is potentially illuminated to signal the arrival of a new era.

Secondly, we are dealing with a sports car of classic proportions – low-slung hood, small greenhouse area, and a cockpit drawn as far back as possible to ensure there's 50/50 weight distribution. Thirdly, GM Design's fans quickly asked if this was a preview of the next-generation Chevy Camaro.

We all know that General Motors has ordained the retirement of the slow-selling sixth generation after the 2024 model year with a couple of special editions – Collector's Edition plus the limited 56-uni Garage 56 ZL1 models. They didn't give us the reassurance that a new Camaro is coming for the 2025 model year but also left the door open because they announced this is not the end of the road for the iconic nameplate.

And we should all notice this Chevy ideation sketch of a thoroughly slammed and copiously widebody sports car that has the classic proportions of the 'Maro is without a radiator grille – which means the imagined powertrain is sipping electrons instead of using a powerful ICE-based mill. And why is that important? Because it mixes handsomely with the rumors that it will be a fully electric hero when the Camaro comes back! So, are we looking at a veiled preview for the next Chevy pony/muscle car, or is the company just gauging interest for an EV sports car?
