While also reckoning Mosley's role in the Wednesday agreement, Di Montezemolo insisted that FOTA's victory cannot be placed under any doubt, as all requests coming from the teams have been satisfied during yesterday's discussions. The Ferrari-an added that he feels proud of the FOTA and that both Ecclestone and Mosley are now aware of its power inside the sport.
“The satisfaction is that all of our requests have been accepted. To us, three things were most important: that F1 stays F1 and not become F3; that there is no dictator, but that there was a choice of rules, agreed and not imposed; and that whoever had a team was consulted and had a voice,” said Di Montezemolo, according to planetf1.com website.
“What has been fundamental is the unity of the teams, of the manufacturers. (Bernie) Ecclestone said he fed FOTA's cards to his dogs; Mosley said he didn't know what FOTA was. It now seems to me both of them have something different to say. Now finally we have stability of the regulations until 2013, and I want to thank all our fans because the public had had enough of the changes,” added the Ferrari chairman.
The FOTA representatives are to meet later today, in Bologna, to discuss the cost-cutting alternative to the budget caps. Williams publicly expressed their will to take part at the discussions, but no official response from the FOTA has been made public on the matter.
Both Williams-Toyota and Force India-Mercedes are suspended from the FOTA for lodging unconditional entries to the 2010 Formula One Championship a few weeks ago (therefore braking ranks with the teams' alliance).
