Daimler sub-brand smart has released a bunch of sketches showing a brand new concept that will bow at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show in January. The non-caps containing name of the vehicle is the for-us, and it’s supposed to be a small pickup for the urban environment.
Designed for people who want a small footprint and minimal environment impact, the for-us only measures 3,547 mm in length, 1,506 mm in width and 1,701 mm in height. The cargo area is 900 mm long, and it looks like it’s been design to carry bicycles.
As with all the recent smart concepts, the power comes not from a diesel or gasoline engine, but from a magneto-electric motor rated at a decent 55 kW or 75 hp. smart even boasts that “with 130 Newton meters of torque it boasts powerful, lag-free acceleration and it can overtake other vehicles with the greatest of ease.”
We’re not sure you can overtake anybody with 75 horsepower but we’ll take their word for it.
