Customers' needs and preferences in terms of recreational vehicles are incredibly diverse, which is why RV manufacturers have a difficult task at hand: creating the ideal travel companion for every individual and family. Dethleffs, a German company with around nine decades of history and extensive expertise in RV manufacturing, offers a wide range of vehicles, from urban campers to luxury motorhomes, in a bid to provide all customers with a comfortable rig to explore the outdoors.
Their latest offering is the Yoka Go, a plus-size camper that was designed with outdoor sports enthusiasts in mind and blends motorhome comforts with gear-hauling capability.

Camper van conversions are by far the top choice among outdoor sports enthusiasts, as these vehicles can be customized to provide not only a comfortable living space with all the modern conveniences of home but also a rig to haul the necessary gear for sports and adventure trips.

Based on the Ford Transit, the Dethleffs Yoka Go is an affordable leisure, sports, and adventure camper designed with a flexible floor plan that opens up new opportunities for both burgeoning adventurers and experienced explorers.

The flexible interior design is optimized around loading in gear for multiple sports, with ample storage space for bikes, wetsuits, kayaks, paddle boards, snowboards, and other outdoor gear without compromising the living arrangements. It is the perfect companion for those passionate about outdoor activities while also offering all the camping necessities.

Dethleffs motorhomes and caravans are built to the highest quality standards, with first-class workmanship and individual equipment, and this is also the case with the new Yoka Go Class B+ motorhome. Measuring 19.65 feet (5.99 m) long and 7.2 feet (2.2 m) wide, the Ford Transit-based camper is compact and easy to maneuver.

The Yoka Go stands out from the crowd thanks to its impressive gear-hauling capabilities enhanced by two large openings. Typically, motorhome builders use sealed four-walled boxes for their rigs and focus on creating functional interior layouts, eliminating the rear load area common on camper vans with factory rear doors.

Dethleffs built the Yoka Go with not one but two large openings that facilitate storing sports equipment. There is a car-like rear tailgate plus an extra-wide habitation door on the side of the camper. The latter measures approximately 45.28 inches (115 cm) wide, so adventurers wearing bulky gear will be able to more easily get in and out of the camper. This secondary entry also comes in handy for loading cargo or gear.

At the rear, the full-size tailgate and low floor allow for easy through-loading, making hauling large equipment like mountain bikes, dirt bikes, snowboards, and paddleboards a breeze. The window on the tailgate also allows for beautiful views of the landscape.

The customizable interior comes with integrated airline floor rails throughout, serving as mounting points for securing additional gear. Customers can also choose to fit the rig with two additional seats, which can be secured to these rails. Thus, customers can travel along with friends or family members. Moreover, the front driver and passenger seat can swivel around and face the optional seats, creating a small seating area.

It's true that, in order to enjoy this level of gear-hauling capability, customers should be willing to make some compromises on comfort. But the camping features of this rig are not lackluster either. The wide and high fiberglass motorhome module is still larger and more commodious than a traditional camper van, so there is enough room to accommodate a rear seating/sleeping area and a kitchen corner.

The camper features a rear seating area with two benches that can transform into a 53 x 81-inch (135 x 205 cm) double bed. The benches also provide additional storage space inside. A freestanding table can be placed in this area for dining and removed when not in use to keep the center of the camper completely free for cargo carry. The table can also be used outside or in the front of the motorhome with the swivel cab seats and optional passenger seats.

The compact kitchen sits toward the center of the motorhome and comes equipped with a round sink with 2.64-gallon (10-liter) fresh and waste water tanks, a portable induction plate for cooking, a small sink, and an under-counter slide-out for an optional 9.25-gallon (35-liter) cool box. For meal prepping, there is also a flip-up counter extension.

Opposite the small kitchen block, there is a large customizable wardrobe with movable shelves where owners will be able to keep personal belongings and additional adventure gear like wetsuits. This closet is a nice addition and offers plenty of storage space, but it occupies the space that would otherwise be taken by a bathroom. The complete lack of a shower or toilet might be a dealbreaker for many, but there is also the option of carrying a portable toilet inside.

For those who need even more storage space, the company offers optional textile overhead cabinets.

Standard equipment on the Yoka Go also includes a 95Ah add-on battery, three 12 V ports, five 230 V sockets, and two USB sockets for charging devices, while optional additions include a cassette awning, a rearview camera, and blackout blinds.

Overall, the Dethleffs Yoka Go is an appealing motorhome clearly targeted at younger adventurers who want to be able to haul the necessary gear to support their outdoor hobbies. Dethleffs has showcased the Yoka Go RV at this year's edition of the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon. The basic model is equipped with a 129-hp 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission and starts at $50,423 (€46,999).
