DEKRA Opens HQ in Shanghai

As the Chinese automotive market evolves from one that made cars in bulk and without paying much attention to details, regardless of their nature, to one of a more sophisticated approach, with clear inclination towards increased safety and comfort, more and more companies that have made a living out of testing vehicles and their components are paying an increased attention to Chinese made vehicles.

DEKRA, a well-known expert in vehicle inspections, announced today that the growth China experienced in recent years made it build and open a new headquarters in Shanghai. The new DEKRA HQ in China will host electronics testing laboratories, Industrial and Automotive business units as well as all the offices that make DEKRA function properly in Asia.

"China occupies a key position in DEKRA's global expansion strategy," said Stefan Kolbl, DEKRA chairman of the board. "We are pursuing a strategy of establishing ourselves as the leading expert organization in all global regions."

In the new HQ, over one hundred people will be in charge with both running the operation and conduct tests on vehicle components. According to the organization, the laboratories in the new HQ are fully equipped for testing electrical safety and conducting environmental and climate-related.

DEKRA will not only test automotive components here. Everything that is produced in China and has do with electronics might at one point have to pass through Shanghai: mechanical household appliances consumer goods, batteries, lights and lamps, electric tools as well as electrical components such as cables, switches, plugs, power outlets and machines.
