If zombies were to feel fear, then one of the things that just might haunt their dreams is a big black machine coming to get them, loaded with 8 armed and very determined individuals. Something like the 2014 Ultra American we have here.
Created by a rather obscure group by the name of Ultra Motor Company for American Iron magazine back in late 2013, this particular machine has had a roller coaster ride in 2019. Its latest exploit is selling at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction in October for $47,300.
Whoever bought it apparently did so only to earn an extra buck as next month, during another Barrett-Jackson event, this time in Scottsdale, Arizona, the all-black machine will once again be on the block.
Nothing was done to it compared to the state it was in during the October sale, and it sells with roughly the same mileage, namely 7,317 miles.
So, what is it?
Officially called 2014 Ultra American Custom Convertible, the vehicle is a Ford-based one-off capable of carrying a total of eight people in an open-top environment for “a true safari-like experience.”
Essentially, the car seems to be everything you need for the coming apocalypse. Power comes from a very potent 6.0-liter Ford PowerStroke diesel V8 linked to a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission, the car is all black so it could lurk comfortably in the shadows, and there are winches and hitches to get it out of trouble when need be.
The eight people who can fit inside are protected from the elements only by the roof and the Lexan front windshield – there are no other windows. The length of the roof is enforced with a roll cage, the interior is wrapped in leather and things like air conditioning, tilt steering, CD player, power adjustable pedals and 6-way power seats come as standard.
The Ultra American sells next month with no reserve. More details on the car can be found at this link.
