The second-generation Chevrolet Chevelle is one of the most popular 2-door coupe/hardtop models of its era, imposing its will on the American people using its aesthetically pleasing styling, among other desirable “character” traits.
Still, the “coke bottle” design worked wonderfully well, and continues to do so, with early first-gen Chevelles proving to be quite popular among collectors and muscle car aficionados even today.

With that in mind, we just found a smoking hot 1968 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe model, currently up for grabs to the highest bidder. With only a couple of hours left in the auction process, the highest bid has already hit $100,000, and if that’s surprising to you, wait until you hear about all the mods, and about who its previous owner was.

Actually, you probably already worked it out who the owner used to be, seeing as how it was in the title of the story. David Spade is one of the most popular actor/comedians in the world, starting off his career on Saturday Night Live, before graduating to starring and co-starring in various movies and sitcoms.

He probably did some of his best work on Rules of Engagement (2007 – 2013), a highly underrated sitcom that’s still immensely enjoyable to watch even today.

Anyway, let’s talk about what makes his Chevelle so special, starting with the aesthetics.

The exterior is finished in black (with satin black stripes), which unsurprisingly works really well together with the satin black grille, tail panel, accents and mirror. The car also has a shaved trunk keyhole, Fesler HID headlights, body-color bumpers, tinted windows and tinted taillights.

The black Forgeline RB3C wheels measure 18-inches at the front and 19-inches at the rear and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber. Other noteworthy features include the adjustable coilovers, power steering, and the Detroit Speed Stage 3 tubular front upper and lower control arms.

Equally spectacular is the interior, with quilted black leather seats sourced from a late-model Camaro. Then you’ve got the custom center console, leather-wrapped custom steering wheel, microsuede headliner, air conditioning, additional insulation, push-button ignition, Shiftmaster push-button shifter, power windows, custom pedals, and a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment system with Hertz Audio speakers and dual 10” subwoofers.

As for the power unit, let’s just say that David Spade doesn’t “ride stock”. Under the hood of this car is a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 with a Concept One serpentine drive system, billet valve covers, MSD ignition, AR long-tube headers, an aluminum radiator with electric cooling fans, plus a dual exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers.

Just how much power does this thing have? We’ve looked it up and it would appear we’re dealing with 525 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque, which is by no means “insane”, but should still get the job done with plenty of grunt to spare.
