It's funny how Tesla has become a family brand, with fathers+sons or husbands+wives buying electric cars. And they don't just buy them for road use, as drag racing is a huge part of the Model S's appeal.
A car magazine recently said it's impossible to explain to people how fast a Tesla is and organized a race between a Model X towing an Alfa 4C and another 4C.

But Teslas weren't always that fast. Sure, they could take on a 911 here and there. But only when the P85D with the twin motors came out that people realized these were killer machines in Insane mode. After that, the P90D came out with its Ludicrous configuration and completely changed the game.

But enough of this history lesson. There's a Youtube channel called Tesla Racing that does just what it says. The son has an older P85D while daddy just got the facelift for the Model S. Even though it's still got the 30-day plates and only 100 miles on the clock, he takes it drag racing.

Even though people know these things are fast, they can't resist drag racing them. So a Nissan GT-R owner decides he wants a pice of the action and goes up against the Model S, for $1000 no less. He is running all the bold-ons in the world and racing gas, yet loses by a nose even though the Tesla had a passenger as well.

Ever wondered what makes the P90D special? Well, in addition to having a drive mode named from the movie Spaceballs, it features a new fuse. Yes, a fuse. The fuse on the P85D’s battery pack melts when a high level of amperage is run through it. But Tesla made a new one for the 90kW performance model, and it has dropped the 0 to 60 mph (98 km/h) time to just 2.8 seconds.
