Dacia Logan 1.2 16V 75hp Engine Launched in France

Since Dacia Logan is one of the most popular - and let's be honest - affordable models to be bought during recession times, parent company Renault gives its best to maximize the revenues generated by this particular model. As a result, the company today announced the availability of the new 1.2-liter 16V engine on the Dacia Logan range, which is going to be offered in France as of today.

As you can see for yourself, this is just another step made by the Renault to further reduce emissions and fuel consumption of the Logan range, as the 1.2-liter unit provides the same power as the already-available 1.4-liter powerplant while emitting 139 grams of CO2 per kilometer. Additionally, the engine has a combined fuel consumption figure of 5.9 l/100 km (39.8 mpg).

This specific powerplant produces 75 horsepower (55kW) at 5,500rpm, with peak torque standing at 107Nm at 4,250rpm.

The 1.2-liter 16V engine will be available with Logan, Ambiance and Laureate equipment levels at prices of 7,600 euros, 8,200 euros and 9,150 euros, respectively. Similar to the current Logan powerplants, the new engine will be produced in Pitesti, Romania.

Above all, the Dacia Logan 1.2 16V is eligible for the French state's 1,000 euros "trade-in for scrap" scheme when trading in a vehicle aged 10 years or more, a bonus that is expected to further increase sales generated by the new Logan.

The same 1.2-liter powerplant was first launched on Dacia Sandero in France in February and is available at 7,800 euros. All versions are 95 percent recoverable by weight, while five percent of the plastic it contains is sourced from recycling.
