Although the exact date of the launch and the prices for the Duster in the UK are yet to be announced, the Romanian carmaker already set up it's UK website, were future customers can register for updates on the model and its arrival onto the market.
The cheapest SUV on the market (the top notch version retails in Europe for 16,630 Euros, a price for which most competitors sell their entry levels), the Duster comes packing one petrol engine (1.6 16V 110hp) and two diesel engines (dCi 85 and dCi 110). Outputs from the units are not all that great, as they range in between 85 and 110 horsepower, but given the car's reduced weight (1,160kg in 4x2 specification and 1,250kg for the 4x4 version), the troop made available may just be enough.
The 4x4 configuration comes with a rear MacPherson-type multi-arm suspension and a six-speed gearbox with short first ratio, thus improving performance on off-road terrain. Additionally, the 4x4 configuration provides three driving modes (Auto, Lock and 4x2).
Safety wise, the Duster is equipped with two front airbags (depending on market) and three-point seat belts with load limiters for the front seats, to which pyrotechnic pretensioners can be added. Additionally, two lateral head/thorax airbags can be fitted in addition to the driver and passenger front airbags.
