After we heard that Audi might be entering the BMW 3 Series GT niche with its Audi A4 Vario, we recently found out that Mercedes-Benz would be on the same course, once again following BMW.
According to LeftLaneNews.com, the Stuttgard-based company plans a so-called C-Class Sport Coupe based on the same platform as the C-Class to compete with the GT 3 Series.

However, this new model will be offering a lot more leg and head room than its C-Class wagon brother. As far as mechanicals go, the engines should stay the same as in the C-Class, starting at the 170 HP 4-cylinder diesel and going up to the turbocharged V6 petrol unit with 330 HP.

In case this is confirmed, BMW will once again prove its trailblazer legacy, showing its German competitors the way to success. Even if both Audi and Mercedes-Benz will release such competitors, its highly unlikely that this will pose a problem for the 3 Series GT, as this car invented this model and will forever be regarded as such.
