Once again, BMW is a trendsetter. After releasing a car that most people deemed a failure before its launch, competition is soon following. Who, exactly? Audi, the same old rival.
According to the German media, it seems like the Inglostadt-based manufacturer, following the success of BMW's 3 Series GT, wants to release a new version of the A4, once the new model will be launched, in 2016.
This addition to the line-up will be based on the long wheelbase variation of the A4 that is currently selling pretty good in China. The name of this extended Audi will be Vario and it's a direct competitor in the Gran Tourismo segment.
Engines will most likely be the same as usual, the old TDIs and TFSI going in strong but, once again following the trend set by BMW, they will probably offer an hybrid alternative version too.
Either way, it's obvious that the propeller-badged manufacturer keeps on doing the right things, despite all the criticism it received lately. Actually, the current numbers, profits and overtakings in various international rankings, all seem to agree with us, BMW is stronger than ever.
