With the new C8 out, not many people talk about the older Chevrolet Corvettes anymore. And you quickly understand why when you remember that it is the first of its kind to feature a mid-engine construction.
Deemed a blue-collar supercar due to its layout and affordable pricing (compared to the real exotics), the C8 Chevy Corvette is about to blow four candles off its birthday cake in a couple of months.
It was the normal Stingray that initially broke cover with its 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 rated at 490 hp (497 ps/366 kW) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, or five horses and five pound-feet (7 Nm) more when equipped with the performance exhaust system or the Z51 package. At 2.5 seconds from 0-60 mph (0-97 kph), the Corvette Stingray is quicker than most exotics and doesn't break the bank with a sub-$70,000 MSRP.
The bowtie brand then expanded the offering with the track-focused Z06. Featuring a 5.5L flat-plane crank V8 developed with Ferrari's indirect know-how, it enjoys 670 hp (680 ps/500 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm). Pricing for this version starts at $112,700 before destination. The electrified Corvette E-Ray completes the offering with its $104,900 MSRP, all-wheel drive, and 655 horsepower (664 ps/469 kW) combined.
Chevy's ties with the Corvette moniker date back to the early 1950s when the original came out. Depending on whom you ask, chances are you'll get different answers as to which generation is their favorite. The one pictured in the gallery is a C6, which was made from 2004 to 2013. Making out the exact spec is very tricky, as this 'Vette has seen much better days. Almost every component was destroyed in a crash that we know nothing about, though some things can still be salvaged.
Hopefully, the driver managed to walk away from the accident and find a different addiction besides cool cars and illegal substances. The latter is a reference to the sticker visible above the left rear quarter panel on the left side, which may have been partially scratched, but it clearly reveals that this person took Breaking Bad a bit too literally.
The car is in possession of azcycle parts, which released a short video of it on social media recently, announcing that the components that were saved from this C6 Chevy Corvette are on sale on their eBay store. Truth be told, we wouldn't have dedicated an entire story to this machine if it wasn't for the controversial sticker, as it is not every day that we come across someone who dares to display their addiction proudly. Either that, or they found this sticker to be extremely hilarious. We hope it's the latter.
