A deer may not be the size of a bull and most likely it is not as powerful either. Heck, nobody messed with the wild animal anyway; it just so happened that this Corvette C6 driver was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Luckily nobody got injured during the incident, and it’s probably safe to say the poor fellow’s appreciation for deer hunters has grown significantly.
It’s not like you can get out of your injured Vette, grab the shotgun and start running through the woods after the foolish four-legged beast that crashed into your Vette. But if through some strange sorcery there was a way to go faster than the animal, we’re pretty sure this driver would have gone for it. Judging by the man’s recent post on the Corvette Forum, the experience was more than just disturbing.
“Traveling down Rt 80W in PA [Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania] and bam, all off a sudden I have Bambi's face crashing into my windshield. Luckily I am OK, and there were no other repercussions since traffic was heavy,” he says.
Considering how the vehicle looks and the man’s story, one could guess the deer “got away” with it shortly after, which may explain the driver’s anger. The damage could have been a lot worse, and somebody could have suffered severe injuries, but the fact that it didn’t happen still doesn’t leave the man out of trouble. According to the Corvette’s owner, the windshield, fender, door and mirror will most likely be replaced, while all else seems to be in order.
As if the repair bill weren’t enough to induce a headache, the man also had his colleagues at work turning the accident into a hunting subject.
“Worst two parts are that I spent last week getting it all detailed out and that ironically I had a 30-minute conversation at work with some hunters who were discussing their conquests. I, of course, commented that I only had one kill so far (05 Pathfinder almost ten years to the day), and I hoped to keep it that way. Less than 24 hours later I had this mess on my hands.”
